Good morning.
The very first thing before you jump into the testing in FI or FICO area you need to understand
and document the following:
a) What is the SAP landscape
b) What is the scope of FI Testing
c) Where are you testing:
Pre-production / Projects or
Post Production (PIT) or Support Ticket
If pre-prod then identify the main FICO areas (Functional and Master Data)
> Master Data Validations
> AP
> AR
> GL
> AM
> Costing & Controlling
> PS
> FICO Integration testing to SD, MM and HR
> Configuration & any special customizations
OR
Are you providing testing support to DEV & config team (if you are supporting Unit Testing).
But please document each area separately.
Every bit of assumption has to be documented & identify 'Approved' requirements that will
leveraged for upload to HP ALM or any other tool [that will be the System of Records for
Testing and QA Validations].
Then comes the actual roles from a SAP transaction (t-code) perspective - for which you
can refer to the following spreadsheet - which talks about all the FI and FICO roles within
the functional areas listed above

OR you can see a sample role based sheet (template) in which you can capture your roles
(that may change depending on your company / client & requirements)
