Hi

As D.Myers said, you can use user exit to restrict the time entry. For ESS you can use the CATU03, or a bapi; for R/3, user exit in include LXPADU01 or 02 which is used by user exit functions.

Counting rules do not restrict the entry of absences. It only specifies whether you count absences
- on which week days
- on holiday of specific holiday class/es
- whether you count absences on days off also or only on working days. For example you may want to count leave w/o pay on all days including weekends when the employee does not work.
- absences of less than one day,
- multiplying by a percentage - for example, 50% for half pay leave
- rounding rule - for example you may round off to the nearest 0.5hrs. You can use this to round off absences to 0.5 day. But this is not used to give a message to reject or a warning.
