We also had the same problem while trying to run SAPup7107_12.
Also, ther were SidebySide errors in Windows System log.
The problem was that the newest SAPup version couldn't run because of
missing version of Microsoft.VC80.CRT.
The Note 1402510 was very helpfull in finding the right version of missing
Microsoft.VC80.CRT.
We've found that the missing one is Microsoft.VC80.CRT"
version="8.0.50727.4053", but it was VERY difficult to find proper
vcredist_x64.exe to install it.
Finally, when we've found it and installed, the problem was solved!
