You can make your equipment as material by assigning material code through
MM module and this material number is further assigned to that equipment
construction type in IE02. Now you can create refurbishment order on that
equipment by using its material # , and further shaft is also a material so
create another sub-order for that shaft. Cost Valuation will be sum up for
both work orders in iw38,IW49.

Yes you are correct to create another work order for the refurbishment of
that shaft which is already a part of inventory. You can also continue that
(Main) order by creating sub-order for that shaft repairing, but condition
applied is, you must have to complete first that sub-order and then main
order.
