quantities are correctly copied from F2 to RE.
But if you change the quantity of the standard item (REN), the free quantity (RENN) is not recalculated.
I believe this is because free goods determination does not work in doc types other than sales orders.

if you want the main item and the free goods item to be copied from invoice
to return order then
you need to maintain some settings in copy control.
Go to T.code VTAF ( Invoice - order ),
select the source as F2 and the target as RE,
d.click on item and select the source item category TANN,
change the copy requirement from 302 (do not copy item) to 303 (Always an
item).
and in item category determination maintain
re+norm+free+ren+renn
I guess if you do this then the free goods item will be copied from invoice
to return order.
