You just call the function module, passing it the appropriate parameters. The function module has documentation you can read to get a better idea of how to do this. I think the required parameters are OBJTYPE (in your case, ZBUS1080), OBJKEY (this has a special format you must adhere to), and EVENT (in your case, the custom event you created).
Since you created an enhanced copy of the standard BO type, you should also look into "delegation" of business object types.
