conclusion as regards authorization issue.
If the OP is not able to see any vendor line item at all - by default ,
then it could possibly be an authorization issue.
But the OP has not stated if he is unable to view any vendor line item or a
given specific vendor line item.

What he mentioned is NOT POSSIBLE, totally misleading and incorrect. This is like dejavu- in this forum, i have explained some technical concept about how this will not happen.
To the original poster:
Are you displaying the document via FB03?
Are you seeing the other line items and not vendor line item? If yes, you may have authorization issue.
