We are having the same problem with the ACT_UPG phase installing EHP5 over ECC 600.
The EhPi is generating the SAPA-701DDINSAPBASIS.<SID> file in the /EHPI/abap/tmp directory. The file is growing very-very slowly
in the /EHPI/abap/<SID>/DVEBMGS02/work directory there are the work process logs: dev_wXX (where XX is the number of the work process)
we noticed that some workprocess logs were refreshing appending the error:
>> Error abap/heap_nondia limit exceeded 90000000 90001332
so we increased the parameter values on the Shadow instance.
We checked the note: 1387739 and followed the recommendations:
abap/heap_area_total = 5000000000
abap/heap_area_nondia = 5000000000
ztta/roll_area = 10000000
but we still had a work process showing the heap memory exceeded.
We increased the next parameters:
abap/heap_area_dia = 8000000000
abap/heaplimit = 8000000000
abap/heap_area_total = 8000000000
abap/heap_area_nondia = 8000000000
ztta/roll_area = 100000000
ztta/roll_extension = 100000000
and it seems that it is working as the /EHPI/abap/tmp/SAPA-701DDINSAPBASIS.<SID> file is updating and growing.
Could you please tell which was the max file size of this file? I imagine that once the step is completed the tmp files are deleted and you don't have the actual size, but more or less the size you remember seeing.
More than 200Mb?
