Hi Mark, At the beginning the Earth was a red-hot sphere... I would say that searching documentation for SAP system calls is a dead end as SAP explicitly proclaims they are for internal use only. Furthermore SAP advises not to use system-calls anymore and use Kernel methods instead. As for the matter: COMMIT WORK actually does release locks (though not all of them - just reread the online ABAP help - found in the system - on SAP locks and particularly the description of the parameter _SCOPE).
