SAP GUI 620 is supported until the end of 2010. Coming soon, but not here yet - your upgrade project should probably be getting underway. Snowy is correct that 620 was not released for Vista or '7'. So, it should not really have ever been deployed on one of those platforms. The company took on some risk by doing that - were the decision makers aware of that risk? Did they have a plan to mitigate that risk? </RhetoricalQuestions>

However supported or not it may be, this was indicated to be working as expected, until someone changed a hosts file. Was it the server or the client host file that was changed? What are the details of the host file change (I don't need to know the IPs, I want an explanation of what/why)? What adaptation did you (the BASIS admin) make (if any) in the client-side saplogon.ini file to accommodate the host file change?

If the change that was made, gets changed back, does it start working as expected once again?

Is DNS resolving the host/IP to the same value as what the hosts file dictates?
