Dear Bob, From the details you mentioned in your thread on 05.13.2008 regarding Firming types, following is what I've understood. Kindly help me comprehend it better. Values with a "?" are the ones which I'm not sure about and request your help. Sorry for the way I've represented the question due to formatting problem. Kindly read it vertically as e.g. Firming Type "0" is applicable only for MPS for which neither Automatic Firming happens nor new order proposal is created. Therefore Moving of new order proposal to the end of Planning Time Fence is not applicable. Thanks in advance. Firming Types -------------------> 0 1 2 3 4 Applicable to MRP/MPS ---------> MPS MRP ?MRP ?MRP ?MRP ? Automatic Firming -------------> No Yes Yes No No ? New Order proposal creation --> No Yes No Yes No New Order proposal moved----> NA Yes NA Yes NA to the end of Planning Time Fence Regards, Pratyush. ---------------Original Message--------------- From: greeniemon Sent: Tuesday, May 13, 2008 8:20 AM Subject: PLANNING TIME FENCE > Hi: > > The planning time fence is a time period in number of days where the system will not automatically reschedule planned orders but raise an exception message. The firming type assigned to the MRP type also influences this. I am pasting SAP documentation below on this. > > Firming type 0: Order proposals are not firmed automatically. With this firming type, no actual firming takes place. The materials only receive the indicator for MPS so that they can be planned using the special planning run for master production scheduling. This firming type only makes sense in combination with the MRP procedure MPS. > Firming type 1: An order proposal that lies within the planning time fence is firmed automatically as soon as its date lies at least one day before the finish date of the planning time fence. The date of new order proposals that are actually created in the planning time fence are rescheduled out to the end of the planning time fence. Therefore, these new order proposals are not firmed. > Firming type 2: An order proposal that lies within the planning time fence is automatically firmed as soon as its date lies at least one day before the end of the planning time fence. The system does not create any new order proposals within the planning time fence. That is, the shortage situation is not adjusted within the planning time fence. > Firming type 3: Order proposals that lie within the planning time fence are not firmed automatically. The order proposals required to cover the requirements are moved to the end of the planning time fence. > Firming type 4: Within the planning time fence, the system creates no order proposals automatically. That is, the shortage situation is not adjusted within the planning time fence > > Bob > > Subject: [sap-log-pp] PLANNING TIME FENCEDate: Tue, 13 May 2008 13:50:19 +0530From: email@removed: email@removed > Dear Guru's, Thanks in advance.
