It should be straight. Your barcode reader should read the barcode as if it were entered in a keyboard. You can set the hardware to send a carriage return (or a tab?) after reading the barcode.

Hello,
I have a specific abap requirement where when a barcode is scanned i need to display the corresponding value on selection screen. It would be nice to know the best way to do so.
