This should be possible using settings in the MM, no need to change the BOM.
Please verify: both old and new materials are planned via MRP and both have same stockkeeping unit.

Hi All,
I have a material, for example, material "A", is to be replaced by another material, that is, "B" in the future. For this reason, in the material master, in MRP4 view, I set Discontin. ind. equal to"1", effective-out date and follow-up material.
When I see requirement/stock list for material "A", I see a row in the name of "effective-out date" and below this row, its requirements. I expect that after effective date no requirements be generated for "A" and instead of that, requirements be generated for "B". But in the requirement/stock list for material "B", there are no requirements, in spite of the fact that available quantity in the effective-out date is under zero.
What should I do
PLZ help me.
