Hi shankar,
Is this the first time Workflow has been configured on this Server?
If yes, then you need to do the Automatic Customizing settings through the
TCode SWU3.
Also, WF-Batch needs to be configured as a user with SAP ALL access.
Else, there shouldn't be any issues in getting the email to your SAP
Inbox.

Hi Aadesh,
Even if I create a single step workflow with only the mail step and
execute it (with reciepient as workflow initiator), it takes me to R/3
login screen .
Mail step is background task only.
Is there some RFC config that should be done ?
