Well.. that's a good question haha.. ok.. lets see...winthin SAP you can find several tablespaces which are used for several things from storing user data to store indexes (you can check SAP note: Note 355771 - Oracle: Explanation of the new tablespace layout<https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/355771> in an Oracle scenario) and so on.. so.. if I were you I would analyze the growth of my database through the last months as per tablespaces.. this would tell me which tablespaces increase in size the most monthly (from my experience in old layout PSAPTABD --> transactional one is the most increasing one) from there you would be able to consider the datafile size and distribution on your target DISK arrange ~ SAN or whatever its you are using....so recap..this is configuring most increasing thus biggest tablespace (some cases) in the most available free space DISK arrange...using advanced configuration within SAPINST of course... What advantages from taking into account what I just shared with you? I believe having the confidence that if you estimate the growth size of your database well, you will be getting less to worried about in your migration.. unless of course you set autoextend automattically which also can save you lots of trouble at the time of the migration.
Hope this is useful to you..

You touch on an important point, and sincerely for me, I still have difficulties to understand it... you said "the key thing here is to distribute all datafiles as per your needs". My question is only one: How you make that distribution, this is, what criteria you use in this analysis and decision/choice?
