There is a transaction to monitor users and transactions being used. That should be enough to find the users using a txn.
In such cases, it would be more productive to use the transaction's program RCATSTAL be executed in batch mode with one job name. That will result in queuing the jobs having the same name. This will require an organisation-wide conventions and procedures.
You can set up a job the first step being for the program using parameters which can be input by user.
In the next step, you can include a program to send a notification to the user when the previous step completes.
There may be job scheduling s/w that can do this.

Timesheet postings to finance ( tcode CATA) can only be run by one user at a time - no parallel processing allowed. An error message is returned "Transfer already Active - Try again later"
This is causing controllers to lose valuable time at period end processing.
A programme is to be developed that displays any user running CATA (similar to AL08).
Controllers will then be able to run this programme before they run their own CATA.
Can someone throw some light on how to proceed further?
