It is possible to have SSO with your SAP Netweaver ABAP Backend.
Basically you have two options:
1.) Use X.509 Certificates (SSL!) -> See Online help (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/a8/d 9d53a9aa9e933e10000000a114084/frameset.htm) 2.) You need a SAP Netweaver Java System (Kerberos enabled) which does issue a SAP Logon Ticket.
This logon ticket is used for the SSO logon to the ABAP backend.
You just need to have a tiny J2EE Application, a JSP for instance, which does dispatch your request directly to your ABAP System (see this blog: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/17344)
