An asset was purchased and capitalise for $10000 on 1st Jan 2005 with a life of 5 yrs. Next Year on Jan 2006 the asset value was reduced by $7000 (Partial retirement) TCode ABAVN . Now for the Balance book value of the asset, the depriciation should be calculated considering asset life as 60 months or @ 48 months. SAP is calculating it as 60 months which is correct .

My question is the depriciation calculation is correct or it should have calculated on 48 months as the asset value is reduced.
