Hi

Many years Ago I installed R/3 on ADABAS-D (forrunner of MAXDB) with only the Databse Data on a raw device all other file systems were not on raw devices.

If I was you I would refer to the Installation Guide for more information.

Regards

Subject: Doubts over installation of SAP MaxDB over Linux RHE 5.4

> Hi everyone,
Pleas help clarifyng some doubts
Im trying to instal SAP SOLMAN and ERP using MaxDB 7.7 over Linux RHE 5.4
I have blade server Xeon (EMT64) with 2 local disks (raid0+1) and connected to a Storage HP with 8 disks of 450 GB.
I have the following doubts:
1. Does MaxDB data files must reside on a RAW partition, or they can just reside on a ext3 partition? this is because hw vendor claims that usage of raw devices implies all disk as raw.
2. We are configuring al storage as a raid6, but documentation recomends that data files be at raid5 and log files at raid1, does it matter if data files and log files resides at raid6 ?
3. Is it necesary to configura mirror logs if log files are located in the storage system??
4. MaxDB instance (engine) is recomended to be installed at local hard disk or as partition at storage system ?
Please your help with this questions :)
Best Regards
Superbasis
