Hello Peter,
Check the Procurement Type on the MRP2 tab of the Material Master. If
this is set to a "Buy" part even though the part is set up as a "Make"
it will throw a Purchase Requisition instead of a Planned Order.
Regards,
Robin

Hello Gurus: We have situations when running MRP/MPS with setting to
create purchase requisitions in opening period where on occassion a
planned order is created instead of the expected purchase requisition.
This issue occurs intermittently so it has not been easy to find the
source of the problem. So, I have 2 questions: 1) any ideas why a
planned order was created instead of the expected purchase requisition,
and 2) can someone tell me the precise determining calculation MRP/MPS
uses for creating a purchase requisition vs a planned order, using all
the factors such as scheduling margin, GR days, Planned delivery time,
opening period, procurement type, etc? Thank you in advance. Peter
