Hi,
First of all, when running MRP via MD01/MD02/MD03 Transaction, it is the ''Create Purchase Requisition'' field setting which controls if purchase requisition or planned order will be generated. If it is set as ''1'', then the PR will be generated at all times and this will be the case if ''3'' is chosen. I guess your problem takes place when "2" was chosen in your system when running MRP. In this particular case, SAP will refer to the planning horizon to determine if PR or planned order will be created. If the requirement is within the planning horizon, then PR will be generated. Otherwise, it is the planned order which will be created.
Cheers,
HT

Subject: MRP/MPS Purchase Requisitions not always created
> Hello Gurus: We have situations when running MRP/MPS with setting to create purchase requisitions in opening period where on occassion a planned order is created instead of the expected purchase requisition. This issue occurs intermittently so it has not been easy to find the source of the problem. So, I have 2 questions: 1) any ideas why a planned order was created instead of the expected purchase requisition, and 2) can someone tell me the precise determining calculation MRP/MPS uses for creating a purchase requisition vs a planned order, using all the factors such as scheduling margin, GR days, Planned delivery time, opening period, procurement type, etc? Thank you in advance. Peter
