[sap-sem] Run Time Error on BPC Application

We've got a Run Time error appearing when trying to access a BPC application link, which is an excel application.
the error is :-
RUNTIME ERROR !
Program C:\Program Files\Micro Office\Office\EXCEL.EXE
Abnormal Program Termination.
I believe this may result in corrupt registry settings which need to be cleared out. Is this something you've come across and if so how did you resolve it.
Any help will be much appreciated....
