How SAP BCS is good or not for consolidation,whatever the phase (budget, actual, forecast, plan,...) will depend on the following questions:
Do i have to manage both Statutory and Management Consolidation ?
Does my value globally come from SAP ?
Witch legal rules i have to customize (IFRS, US GAAP,....) ?
Then in the scope you will have to implement BW, BPS, BCS, and may be some tirth part product (fiscal reporting) to do it.
From and process point of view if the value come globally from SAP, you can reduce drastically the closing process (IC elimination; IC profit on stocks;...)
