I encountered something similar at a past client. Basically, you have Divisions that represent business units, moreso than they represent groups of materials. Correct?
Here is what I did: If a material belongs to one and only one Division, then you assign it a Division on the material master. If however, a material belongs to multiple divisions, then you assign it a division of Blank on the material master. Then you configure your sales order with the item division to X. Then, when you enter a sales order, your order will allow materials from your division plus any cross-divisional materials. Materials that have a blank division will adopt the division entered on the first screen of VA01.
