Scott,
That's great news! Not that it doesn't work, but that someone else at the same level has the problem. We are as SAP_BASIS 701 level 0003. I'll look thru OSS again and if I don't see it, maybe I can put in a note. As I said, I tried %VGRID and it didn't work. The screen flashed, but Excel stayed - so maybe I to make a setting wrong.
Again, thanks for your time.

Hi Steve,
Actually using &VGRID should work just fine for CL_SALV_TABLE! Now I
understand what you are trying to do, and I am able to duplicate it in
our system with the scenario you described. We are on ECC 6.0 ,Basis
release 700, Level 15 with Office 2007. So maybe you are looking at an
OSS issue. Take a look at program SALV_DEMO_TABLE_FORM_EVENTS which will
allows you to call Excel and return to the grid with &VGRID, it should
work. Let us know how you fair.
Cheers!

Scott, thanks for the answer. I using the newer ALV class,
cl_salv_table. We created a prototype about a year ago and have been
using it to upgrade all of our older coded ALV reports. We upgraded to
Offfice2007 several months ago and last month applied an rather large
enhancement pack to our ECC6.0 since we are implementing FI, MM, Real
Estate, PM to our existing HR and payroll.
In the toolbar, I have an icon for Excel in place. Click on it and Excel
comes up, no problem. In Excel, after clicking the Office Button, there
is a inactive line "Close and return to ALV(1)". I seem to have
forgotten a way for users to go back to the ALV grid, and of course, a
super user pointed this out to me.
I went looking the function Views that when clicked has List Output,
Grid, Excel in place, Lotus in place but couldn't find it. In SAP help,
I found a mention of using the Change Layout - View tab - to change back
and forth so this is a way to go back and forth. But I still want a
button.
I've used the "&VGRID" to go back to the ALV for the
REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY, but that doesn't work for the CL_SALV_TABLE.
Anyway, thanks for the table, I'm sure I'll find something on there.

Hi Soldner,
I may be misunderstanding the question because like any other program,
the available functions are attached to the menu status. SE41 should
provide you the function list that you need. You might explore and read
documentation on class CL_SALV_FUNCTIONS_LIST, but I think ultimately
all the information you need is found in the GUI Status. The table that
contains the list of functions per program is RSMPTEXTS.
Cheers!
