I didn't see any standard functionality exist with the requirement posted!
Just to know little bit detail...So in this case, sub asset class again derived/referred to main asset only or it has own properties(num range, acc det, dep ...)?
If your requirement is for reports then, I feel that Evaluation Groups will some how meet the requirement to differentiate Assets within the Asset class which is explained in the first response!
