- Is the data uniform?
- Can the user save it as a text file or do you have to read it as Excel?
- Where is the data going in SAP? There could be Excel upload capability in SAP already.
- Will the data be uploaded online or in background? (What methods you use to import the data are affected by online vs. batch.)
Those answers would be a start towards helping you.
