You can try this I have seen it works, or you can concatenate but it will be a bit tricky because leading zeros will change depending upon length of matnr value.

VALUE (Matnr from VBAP table)
v_matnr type matnr.

CALL FUNCTION 'CONVERSION_EXIT_ALPHA_INPUT'
EXPORTING
input = VALUE
IMPORTING
OUTPUT = V_MATNR
