A QA group that 'enforces' field-symbols in loops is led by one ignorant person IMO.

Subject: Declaring Field-Symbol Type ANY

Hello experts,

I've been using field-symbols since forever and when defining them, always used a dictionary object if one was available. Otherwise I use the 'TYPE ANY'.

What is the difference exactly?

FIELDS-SYMBOLS <F_matnr> TYPE MATNR.

and

FIELD-SYMBOLS <F_matnr> TYPE ANY.

I can see the usefulness of the 'ANY' addition when we have to deal with dynamic variables but are there any other differences to be considered?
