Hello folks:
I have figured out the problem and would like to share it with you.
My client has created company Logo and name as part of the Excel template (file format for the planning layout that was generated through the default parameters setting through KP34).
While saving as a tab delimited file, there are a few blank lines created on the text file. As a rule we always remove the blank lines before loading the file in KP06. If I removed the blank limes, system issues the
Unintelligent message " No posting period is open for Fiscal Year Variant K4" Message number GU508.
If I do not remove the blank lines, the upload works like a charm.
Much as I understand that the system should reject the file with blank lines removed, I do not agree with SAP mixing up the error message. This has resulted in unnecessary waste of time trying to figure out if there were configuration errors etc.
Clients will also do well not to create logos, company names and other fancy stuff in the load template.
Just so that every one can learn from my experience this information is being shared.
