Has anyone asking this question looked at why SAP created the IDES installation. It was to provide clients that were aimed at the 4 areas and contain configuration and data related to the areas of FI, Production, Sales and Distribution, Warehouse management.

They are an informational set of clients.

If you want users to be concentrating on FI then use it, etc.
