It will depend on what and how you have archived

A better question is what happens to data not archived. If you unassign
org units, then you may have data integrity issues with documents and
other data. You will have to archive all data first before doing this,
and it will require very thorough evaluation considering all data -
sales, logistics FI and possibly even CO. If the landscape includes
related systems such as CRM then there will also be an impact here..
This needs to be treated as a project and planned and managed accordingly

For data already archived provided the org unit remains in the system
you should still be able to retrieve data. However if you have used the
AIS with structures the DRB will may not work

Subject: SAP Enterprise Structure Changes Impact On Archiving

Hello SAP Gurus,

I just wanted to ask what will be the impact to Archiving if changes to the Enterprise Structure configurations are made?

Example of Enterprise Structure configuration changes would be unassign Sales Area, unassign plant to company codes, etc.
