If you added LOBM_HERKL to your class characteristics without checking or adjustment then on the additional data tab you will find that the data is referenced (i.e. pulled from and not editable) from MCH1 HERKL.

So create a new characteristic as a copy (not good practice to change the standard characteristic) and remove the reference to table field data, add that characteristic to your class instead and then use the exit to populate it from the data that you enter in your GR.

Subject: Recording Country of Origin on a Batch at Receipt

Hi experts,
I require to record Country of Origin on a batch at receipt. I have configured Class 023 with a SAP standard characteristic LOBM_HERKL.

I have my Batch level set at Material level and my Material master set up with Classification for Class 023 and Characteristic LOBM_HERKL. I do have MARC-HERKL set as required on my Material Master and populated but don't see why this should affect my batch update.

At receipt in MIGO on the batch tab I can select Classification and enter a Country of Origin but when I post the goods receipt the batch is created OK but the Country of Origin is not updated. Also I cannot change the batch master to record a Country of Origin.

Any ideas what I am missing?
