Reply from jc_plummer on Jan 11 at 5:54 AM Are you classifying the PM notification itself (class type 015) or are you are trying to update Class/Characteristic values on the equipment master during creation or update of the PM Notification? For the equipment master, the normal route for this is to double-click the equipment number after entry, toggle to change, and click the "class overview" button. There is no standard tab or screen view within the PM notification to enter object (Eq or FL) classification data per se.
If you are classifying the notification itself – SAP uses the catalog code/code group and catalog profile along with class type 015 to default in a class value based on the catalog profile. If the configuration and master data is setup correctly, entering an equipment number, followed by the object part field (either in screen group 015 on a tab, or on the item level 20 sub tab) will pull the class value from configuration. You can only see the class detail for the object part by clicking the detail button – there is no standard way to pull this into its own tab. If, when you click the details button of the object item, the class field is not populated, then do two things – verify that the equipment record has a catalog profile specified (usually on the organization tab in the responsibilities area) and verify that the catalog profile has a class specified in configuration in the Define Catalog Profile configuration point along with the class screen check
box. It sounds like the "catalog for notification types" already has the class active flag set, but worth checking if you don't see the fields at all.

When creating a notification of a certain type (or some other designator) we would like a class to automatically be assigned to the notification and direct access to entry of characteristics. Right now there are several steps that need to occur before the user gets to the screen allowing for entry of characteristics. I would like for the characteristics entry screen to be, more or less, available at time of notification creation.
IW21 --> Enter Equipment # --> Click "Characteristics Tab" --> Enter characteristics
I've seen this type of thing done in CV04n where by typing in a document type, the next tab is made available with the characteristic fields to perform the search.
Any help would be appreciated.
