Reply from VidhyaDhar on Feb 12 at 10:41 PM Hi, Your understanding is right. As you are aware, tax codes are statutory and are country-specific. Therefore, all company codes belonging to a single country use the same tax codes. SAP has many pre-defined country-specific tax procedures already defined generically. But they are, to a certain extent, customizable further in order to accommodate any new tax codes that may be required / added / modified by the statutes of the country / countries from time to time. A country-specific tax procedure pre-defined ( as a variant ) by SAP is assigned to the country ( you must be aware that SAP has many countries pre-defined in itself) and this makes it possible for all company codes belonging to a country share the same tax codes via the tax procedure. You may also be aware that when you create a company code, you adopt a country for your company code as a parameter. When you do so, the country-specific tax procedure assigned to such country also gets attached to your company code. In other words, the linkage is as follows: Country Specific Tax Procedure * (A)* -> assigned to Country *(B)* * (B)* Country -> *(C)* assigned to your Company code ( while creating your company code ) Let us try to remember the equation you learnt Algebra in your school . When *A= B and B= C, * ** * then A=C* Is it not? Similarly, the linkage between a tax procedure and your company code happens via the country. Regards, VidhyaDhar
