I have managed to create a custom Object Type and get it to behave as intended through the IMG. It took a little playing around but I did manage to figure it out. The goal was to be able to assign Qualifications and Persons. I was able to do this. Thanks.

Subject: How do I properly setup custom OM Object Types?

We are using various Object Types to assign Qualifications (including Org Unit, Position, Job, etc.). We plan on using Qualification Groups and Qualification Blocks for other purposes.
We need a means to classify employees who, in addition to their assigned Position, also act as members of our Safety Committee, Fire Responders, CPR Responders, and other responsibilities that are not tied to any specific Position, Job, or Org Unit. After researching the available Object Types, I found no other that would fit our need.
So, I think we need a custom Object Type (e.g. "ZC"). Also, we will need to assign these new classifications to various Qualification requirements. This would allow us to then manage all levels of required Qualifications tied to our managed Object Types (Org Units, Positions, Jobs and even this new classification). In the way that an Org Unit has a Bottom-Up relationship (A|031) to a Qualification through IT1001 (Relationships), we would need the same for ZC. We would also need to then assign Persons to this new Object Type.

I have poked around in the IMG > Personnel Mgmt > Org Mgmt under "Data Model Enhancement" and "Hierarchy Framework" for the areas concerning Object Type. Does anyone have any white papers or solid tips on creating a new Object Type to help me fit my need? I get a little lost and concerned when I encounter the TOJTB table for business objects, making sure the objects appear when I call up PP01, etc. Thanks!

Erik
