I am not sure about most out there. But, I am finding it fun/interesting/confusing/frustrating keeping up with all of the SAP terminology. So, the fun is through "what mechanism" does SAP deliver ABAP language changes. I have seen and heard it is through the Enhancement packs and yet also seen it labeled 701 and 702. Of course I have heard the 701 and 702 call the BASIS layer. And, yet when you look at the SAP components I have seen these numbers on both the BASIS and ABAP (or is it called ABAP). The components are SAP_BASIS, "SAP Basis component," PI_BASIS, "Basis Plug-In," and SAP_ABA, "Cross-Application Component." Of course the component that I usually see indicating the version and enhancement pack level on is SAP_APPL, "Logistics and Accounting". This one is something like 600 ? 604.
So, the question would be what is the correct terminology to use? Beats me. Just like, is it ECC 6 or ERP 6.0?
Sorry not really and answer but more a restatement of the question hoping for more answsers,

The differences in abap are quiet big: extended expressions, chained methods, improvements in abap frontend editor, debugging, runtime analysis, online documentation that now comes with with examples integrated, and much more.
