Okay now that's what I was wondering. Now that I have more of an understanding of how SAP gathers its information, I can talk to our SAP people and have them give me access to these files. Is it really that easy? Also, would everyone need to have access to these files in order for the database to work?

Robin,

SAPGui is just a presentation tool, kinda like an old IBM 3270 dumb terminal. It does not have direct access to any of the SAP database tables except when it is connected to the R/3 system. The database tables reside on the DB server which is normally on a totally separate, and secure system which you may or may not have direct access to.
