Hi Ravi,

Hope no one will agree to restore the existing system. Use other systems to restore and test.

Not required to delete the data file if you are replacing it in same path. Otherwise it takes disk size and will not harm the database if you are not deleting it.

Subject: Best option to test my backup by Restore method

Dear All

I have taken "full online +redo log files" database backup. This is a
Development Server. The work goes on 24hr. The operating system and DB are
windows 2003 server and oracle 10g respectively.
Now I need to test my backup(RESTORE the backup). What is the best option 1)
Weather to take new server install the SAP and Restore the backup and test
or 2) RESTORE in the same server and test.

Second question is if I restore the backup in the same server Weather I have
to remove the existing DATA file and make the backup. Please Suggest the best
way to test my Backup.

Thanks in advance,
Ravi
