We have the same issue, and use a special developed program to close the sales order lines which are closed at purchase order level.

We've called it ZSD_PARTIAL_TAS_LINES.
It's very basic, but it works fine, provided that afterward you copy the sales order numbers involved to the clipboard, and then run RVV05IVB for this selection of order numbers, to rebuild the invoicing index.
I run it on a weekly basis.

Send an email to rawbone at scarlet dot be to get the code (when I paste it here, I loose all the nice indenting)

Subject: Closing out third party orders

Hi Gurus,

Our company is implementing third party order functionality to
supply products directly from our vendors to our customers.
Suppose one of our customers placed an order for a quantity of
300 of Material X. A PR is created automatically and then a PO
for the vendor is created with the same quantity. The vendor can
send multiple shipments to our customer. Say the vendor sent 2
shipments with a quantity of 100 on the first and 150 of
Material X on the second shipment and then he says he cannot
deliver the remaining 50. So there is an unfulfilled demand of
50. The Partial Delivery per item in the Shipping tab of the
Customer Master (KNVV-KZTLF) is 'D'-no limit to subsequent
deliveries. The business does not want to change the Sales Order
Quantities as they want to keep a record of the original
customer demand. We use different order types for regular and
third party orders and there are no third party items on the
regular sales orders. There is a sales order close program for
the regular orders which assigns a reason for rejection at the
line item level and closes out the orders. But I'm not able to
assign a reason for rejection for third party order line items.

• What are the configuration settings that govern the close
status of third party orders??
• How to close third party orders with partial invoice receipts
without changing the sales order quantities??
• Can standard SAP configuration do this??
