I'm a little confused as on one hand you are saying there are items that are direct delivered by 3rd parties and on the other that you want to deliver the items all out of the same plant. Can you have a "Special delivery plant" that you assign as the delivering plant on the customer master record - this will then pull through on to the order. For your item category group for each material in the "Special delivery plant" you can create a value that then determines an item category that will generate a purchase order (so a copy of TAB) But you would also have to create release strategies and other config on the purchasing side so might not be justified. You're also going to need to think about whether you are happy for the customer to receive the orders in bits (almost inevitable if 3rd parties are directly delivering) - although if you can have them deliver to the plant and then have 100% complete delivery things would be neater but expensive logistically. I'm not sure there's a quick and easy answer to your questions here and realistically you're going to need a workshop with your consultants (or if that's you then a design session with your business users to get clearer requirements and then investigate further) Someone else however may well have done this process and might be able to give some more useful bullet points of what to look at.
