Hi,

On a Windows XP , you will only be using IPv4 address and the host file resolves fine, where as on windows 7 professional, there can be a conflict with the IPv4 and IPv6 version, so go ahead and disable the IPv6 on your windows 7 professional, you may need to make a change in the registry to disable IPv6,(follow the knowledge base to disable IPv6). Restart the system, Try to ping localhost, loopback and verify that the system is resolving the host. Then try it again. Also verify that the IE version that opens is a 32-bit version and not a 64-bit version
