[sap-log-mm] How do you tie sales order item category to purchase requisition category?

We are creating a sales order where the sales order item has an item category of TAB. This is a standard sales order item category which causes a purchase requisition to be created, and eventually the NB purchase order.

Currently the purchase requisition item category (EBAN-PSTYP) is not being populated when we do this. We have created a new item category "A" which we would like to populate in the PSTYP field of the requisition, and also in the purchase order item when the item is coming from the sales requirement which has TAB as the item category.

Is there configuration that can make this happen or must we use a user exit?
