The group is added to the Auth Grp Field at the far right of the record in either OB52 or S_ALR_87003642. You also have to add Authorization object F_BKPF_BUP with this group to the user's security role. Any user that has that authorization has access to post in the period 1 range. All others have access to the period 2 range. (If you "F1" on the Authorization Group field in this transaction, it will provide a good explanation)
