Abhilasa,
Unfortunately, material characteristics deppend on the company not on sap. You should ask your functional team about their aim in creating characteristics in the way they are now.

Asunto: [sap-dev] Characteristic of a batch
[http://userimages.toolbox.com/user/b_1454610.jpg]
Hi ,
I have a batch of a material eg. Material Y-351 and batch 0000001047 , now the precious metal content of the batch are gold and silver which are respectively 1.2 and 2.1 % .
However there are few other batches , which have batch class type as 023 and class as 023_08 , precious metal content as gold and silver but their percentages are not mentioned in the Classification tab of tx msc3n.However it is mentioned in the Material data tab as material classification class as '023_08' and class type as '023' and the gold and silver content as 1.2 and 2.1%.The actual values for the material classification for y-351 are 3.5% and 1.6% and the material class type is 001.
Why is this so and what does it signify ?
I was thinking if the the characteristic values from the batch class is empty , then the material characteristic values are used. However this does not seem to be the case here.
Also these batches are not present in the AUSP table.
Kindly suggest.
