use material groups, instead you use Merchandise categories. It is the
merchandise category that allows you to set up a hierarchy.
This with a few other "changes" makes Retail different from normal ECC.

Only if your system is configured as a IS Retail system , then can this be
possible.
In normal ECC you will have to create each material group and when running
reports, insert all values or a range of values for the material groups.
