a mandatory field. The document type that you are trying to post might be
set as 'Unspecified Posting' where the system may not be able to derive the
segment automatically (may be the profit center is not available for that
line and hence the segment).
If a default is acceptable in such cases please set a default in system
configuration for undetermined segment.

If you are doing a manual posting double click in the line item and enter
profit center and/or segment.

you must have set your document splitting characteristic as Business Area,
due to which it is mandatory to enter value in the business area field
while posting a document.
Please check whether you have left the field of business area, enter the
value in the field and post. I am sure it will get posted.
