On the Time Dependent Data tab for your asset (use AS03 to display), is the field "Business Area" displayed?
If so, what value is in there?

I am trying to change cost center in the asset master record (AS02), I am getting the below error. Please kindly assist me.
Account object Business Area differs from that in asset master record
Message no. AAPO189
Diagnosis
Account assignment object Business Area with its value 6N00 is not the same as the value entered in the asset master record.
System Response
The system keeps the current account assignment object Business Area with the value 6N00, or the posting is rejected.
Procedure
Check the account assignment
