Hi

Most people confuse themselves when it is said that:

" Pre-requisite must be TRUE and the result of Check must be
False for validation happens ".

Please read this statement as upon data entry, *the result of the
pre-requisite statement must evaluate to TRUE* and *the result of the Check
statement must evaluate to FALSE* for validation to occur which, in turn
would trigger an appropriate message.

Subject: Validation for Transaction Code FB60/F-02/F-43/F-47 and F-48 in FI

Hi Sandhya

As you may be aware, a validation step is made up of three components 1.
pre-requisite 2. check and 3. message

and the validation process adopts Boolean logic where the truth / falsity
of each of the aforesaid two statements (pre-requisite and check) are
considered. Validation happens and a message is generated when the
pre-requisite statement is true and the check statement is false.

Let us consider your requirement :

"If the transaction is FB60 and Business place is 1002, then tax code X0 is
the only appropriate tax rate and others should not be used"

Pre-requisite : If Transaction is FB60 and Business Place = 1002 ( When
the user posts a transaction with FB60 and with business place 1002, this
becomes true and a check happens)

Check : Tax code = X0

( The check becomes true when the user selects X0 as the tax code....in
this case, there will not be a validation but the transaction gets posted.
On the other hand , let us suppose that the user selects a different tax
code. The check statement becomes false enough to trigger a suitable
validation message that an incorrect tax rate has been selected which does
not gel with the business place 1002 and transaction FB60 )

In short, please note that a validation is possible if upon data entry ,
the pre-requisite is adhered to but the check turns out to be false.

In other words Pre-requisite must be TRUE and the result of Check must be
False for validation happens.

Hope you get the point.

Regards
