Have no idea if this would work, so depending on how desperate you are for the leading zeroes you may want to ask one of your programmers to check.
The vendor number (LIFNR) is a domain in the data dictionary (SE11). That is associated with a conversion routine (ALPHA). There is a conversion routine for input and output. Perhaps you could edit the output conversion routine (CONVERSION_EXIT_ALPHA_OUTPUT) to get the leading zeroes displayed.
